As an old person, let me respond. It's not kids today, it's everyone always. Youth rarely has the earning potential of older, experienced workers. But there is something you can learn today to help you tomorrow.
I could easily afford Starbucks, but I brew my own in the mornings for a faction of the cost. (And it's not burnt) That saves money for other things. Learn to cook. Home cooked meals tend to be not only cheaper, but better for you.
I learned to live broke when I was broke and once I no longer had to live paycheck to paycheck I still basically live broke. Not worshipping materialistic goods means that I don't have credit card debt. If I can't afford it, I don't buy it. (Only exceptions being a home and autos)
Life should get easier as you age. Consumer debt will delay that by years or even ever.
One last tip. Learn to network. The people you know today can help you get a better job in the future. It may sound cynical, but I learned it from my father and he made it to the top of his profession and brought along many of his friends with him. I used it to get into my present job and while not at the top of my profession, I have many friends in the business that now work elsewhere that have offered me jobs just as I have help friends get into where I work. If I lost this job today, I will have a job tomorrow because I keep in touch with people.
Good luck
