Hahaha, nice! I forgot about the wholesome stream, maybe should've posted there, but I was thinking "cat"- I can still remember being in kindergarten, and my mother was devastated when I decided I wanted to watch Speed Racer instead of Mr.Rogers- uhgg! (Mr.R. did have very cool models in his land of make-believe though)

Really? I never saw Unico. The other one I recall that aired briefly on US TV around the time of original Speed Racer was "Kimba".It was fairly wholesome I believe. I don't think anyone had ever heard the words "animae" or "manga" at that time. All we knew was they were strange cartoons where the Characters had extra-large eyes, lol!

Both were done by Tezuka.(Practically the father of modern manga). Unico is bright, cheery. . and whole lot of unhappy ending. Kimba. . .well, if you watched The Lion King it's practically the same thing. . .and yes Japan was beyond pissed over it.
