Good that you recognize reality on this because cases like these pose the biggest threat to anti-choice laws. Ireland’s entire anti-abortion regime was upended by public outcry over this woman’s preventable death. If that can happen in a traditional Catholic country, then it can happen in Arkansas — or wherever.
Even so, anti-choice laws are being written right now that fail even to make the bare minimum provision for the life of the mother. Why? I dunno, maybe because state legislators are glorified schoolboard members who farm out their core job duties of writing laws to radical interest groups and don’t know what they’re doing most the time. “States’ rights” indeed. Most can’t even name their own state representatives yet Republicans seem quite eager to place their most personal and intimate rights under the control of these faceless political hacks.
