Just as bad as the major parties.

Just as bad as the major parties. | Libertarians have a strange attitude toward Native People. On one hand they project their beliefs onto us. It's true that personal freedom is part of our culture, but so is community. If you're doing something which harms the tribe, there will be consequences. And we certainly wouldn't give corporations freedom to destroy the land. On the other hand: if they ever get into power one of the first things they want to do is throw away all the treatys we
made - a blatant act of white supremacy. | image tagged in libertarian hedgehog transparent, lies, racism, independent, third party | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

Sadly none of the major parties (or even the minor ones) represent Native American interests. I would say that the Democratic Party is *most* aligned with Native people, just as it is most aligned with minorities generally, but it's not a perfect match.

I visited a Native reservation in the early-2010s (this was before Trump) and was surprised to hear how much proto-MAGA sentiment there was. Heard lots of stuff about resenting city elites, eggheaded college professor types, and opposing the federal government. (No surprise that Natives would distrust the federal government after all the violence that has been done to tribes throughout America's history.) There seemed to be quite an ambivalent attitude toward welfare.

One of the most bizarre things was how they insisted on calling themselves "Indian," dismissing "Native American" as a politically correct term only used by white people.

I highly doubt the selection of people I encountered in this community represent all of Native American thought, just an interesting observation.
