I have not read every word of the Bible. Like most people, when I do read it, I am looking for answers. I was raised in a Congregational Church. I was taught to read the Bible with my Heart as well as my Brain. I was encouraged to listen for the Voice of Christ, for inspiration. I don't recall ever hearing a voice telling me to give to this or that charity. But, I have been inspired to give to organized efforts and to individuals in need. I was inspired by the example of another, to work in the field I did. I sacrificed materially, in both cases. I did not read the entire Bible, but I think I heard the voice of it, as much as most others do.

My question to you is, "Who hears the voice of Christ more clearly, those who use the Bible as inspiration to control and punish others, or those who are inspired to love, forgive and give?" My answer is, "It doesn't matter. The reward for doing good is being known as a doer of good. All others will be known by their deeds, also."

So you’re saying that if I agree to quit whacking it to 18 year old female volleyball players, you’ll allow abortion to be made illegal? It’s going to be hard (pun intended), but deal.

I am saying. "Let science, not anyone's interpretation of the Bible or any other religious tract, govern issues related to science." A reading of Genesis 38:8-10 shows that for refusing to produce a child out of wedlock and provide for it as if it was his own, God killed Onan.

If one of those Volleyball Players gets pregnant and you refuse to raise the child as your own, should we put you to death, like Onan? Are communities of people who refuse to raise such a child as guilty of disobeying God as much as Onan was? Should people who cut or refuse to give food and housing to children born out of wedlock, violating the order from God to raise the child, be punished? In the Congregational Church I was raised in I was told to read the Bible with my heart as well as my head.

If I must accept the interpretation that Biblical life begins at conception, people must obey all of the rules set forth throughout the Bible.

Yes, any parent refusing to take responsibility for their child should be put to death. They are a cancer to society and we are all better off without that kind of scum walking the earth.

Your extremism is duly noted.

"Matthew 5:22
But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother shall be guilty before the court; and whoever says to his brother, ‘You good-for-nothing,’ shall be guilty before the supreme court; and whoever says, ‘You fool,’ shall be guilty enough to go into the fiery hell."
