I love Cheap Trick. My junior year in high school Budokan got stuck in my tape deck and I listened to it over and over...still love it! :-)

I believe I've seen Cheap Trick open up for other artists a couple of times. They're awesome! Although I think all live rock n roll music is awesome.

I absolutely agree! I've seen them a few times (always as the featured act) and they're always fantastic!...but there are so many other great shows!

All live music is great! But you're right Cheap Trick does put on a good show.

Joe Biden cannot continue to control this country if you have free access to information. It's that simple.

I agree with that. I'm one of those people who likes to unspin things our local government is doing and give information, so people can make their own decision.

I think they are actively trying to get conservative voices banned here... just like they did with twitter and facebook...
5 ups, 3y,

I am seeing signs of that too. For example trying to ban the conservative party from the next election on imgflip. But think about it if Biden can have a disinformation czar, they think they can cancel us here too.

You can bet censoring memes are going to be a high priority for them.

I wouldn't think that would be a good idea. Biden's not going to be president forever.

Remember how bad it was when those memes about Trump, CNN, and wrestling came out. How the left when bananas to doxx the meme maker?

This is really no different, except they're trying to cancel the conservative voice because of one user.

We can just get a billionaire like Trump or Musk, to create a platform or buy one for us. Libs are retards in the truest of terms.
0 ups, 3y
I'm not sure that would be any different than Facebook censoring conservative. I know that Trump just started opening Truth Social to the public. And I applaud Elon Musk for wanting to further free speech on Facebook.

If you'd actually read this book, there's a much much more obvious song to use.

... My suggestion is you actually read this book! Because George Orwell very specifically took the time to hand pick a song that he believes best captures the sentiment. You'd know what I'm talking about if you'd read it.

1984 is one of the most notorious books for being talked about by people who haven't read it, and it's quite obvious that you're guilty of this.

I have read it.

Good for you. Then you know what I'm talking about.
1 up, 3y,

No, I don't, because I don't remember every detail of the book. I, like every human being in existence who has read it, remembers a finite amount of details, and can only recall some of them.

Ok. Read it again. And when you notice the rather overt feature of the story I'm referring to, remember that you could barely recall the book when you were trying to lecture people about the thought police.
1 up, 3y,

Yeah, sure. The guy, when confronted about his idea, won't explain it. That probably means you don't really know what you are talking about.

.... You think the fact that I remember this feature of the book and you don't reflects a lack of knowledge on my part?

I think I'm starting to understand how you came to forget so much of the book.

"400 pages? Oh my God, that's like... a whole week or something. Who does this person on the Internet think they are, asking you to invest one week of your spare time to refine your political background knowledge. Afterall, gathering snippets about the book from discussions on the Internet has served you so well up until now."

Not if you are in school, and working a job.

The whole idea that I have to reread the book, just so you can tell me the same damn thing you can tell me right now, is so utterly stupid. You are such a waste of time, I am sick of you. Done.

What main feature? I can name multiple myself, but I don't know what I don't know, so you'd better tell me what you mean, because this conversation is getting so tiring. I hate people with pretend knowledge.

The not knowing what you don't know has a solution in this instance! It is solved by rereading the go***mn book.

Or, instead of reading a 400 page book again, how about you explain your idea?

What feature, exactly? I have no idea which one it is, because you are prideful enough not to mention it, and then get mad when I don't know exactly what is in your head. What a fool.

Read it again. Why would you push back against the idea of rereading this book that you put front and center of your politics? Why would you make my point for me by taking active satisfaction in your incompleteness of your knowledge of it?

I did not push back on the idea of reading it again, infact I explicitly showed how you are unable to explain the idea yourself. I don't put it "front and center" of my politics. It is simply a book that well describes the current evil.

Active satisfaction? What are you saying? You won't even describe your own viewpoint, and then condemn me for asking! You are such an idiot.

I know what you were trying to go for.

If anything, I understood both references while you only, as it turns out, understood half of your own joke. I can't say it any more clearly than that. If you're incapable of saying "oh, maybe I should read a bit more about this first" then that's on you.

Thank you for the suggestion. But I'm more a learn from doing it type person. And if only I had time to read something I want to instead of staff reports and doing research trying to help people in my community.

That's fine, but, the problem with that is you then have to learn from your mistakes. Which means having enough self awareness to recognize when you've made one. The "never admit you've made a mistake" type of person is completely dependent on skills and knowledge they already have, which is the principle disadvantage.

Honest question from someone that read 1984 many, many moons ago. I recall reoprts of Airstrip One being incinerated, the smell of cabage in the hallway, the alcove out of the view of the TV, the apartment with no TV and the picture on the wall. I hope that my bonofides meet with your approval. I do not remember a song being mentioned. If you could please jog my memory, I would appreciate it.

You genuinely cannot remember any song that was mentioned at several times throughout the book as being a central theme symbolic of the experience living under threat of the thought police? Like, seriously, SEVERAL TIMES THROUGHOUT THE BOOK? You cannot miss it. Read the book again.

Just read the book, ok? Gathering snippets about it from people on the internet is how you misunderstood this in the first place.
