No -while communism is a type of socialism, socialism is not synonymous with communism nor is it "what you call communism until you have the power to call it communism".  What you're talking about is Marxism.  To help put things in perspective, consider a corporation with stockholders; pretty symbolic of all things capitalism, right?  Except it's not; it's actually a straight-forward example of socialism.  One of the primary aspects of socialism is group ownership; as such, stockholders represent group owners.
