Yes. It is that radical.

I'm a Democrat, who was poor growing up - food stamps and lunch tickets. Fast forward in life to high school. When I was in 10th grade, I started washing tables at lunch, to get a lunch. We made enough money as a family to not get benefits, but also not be able to pack a lunch.

So I worked to get my lunch. My lunches tasted way better to me than other kids' lunch to them. I appreciated it because I worked to make it happen.

Fast forward to today - I am in year 22 of my career, about to be 44 years old. I make a good salary, I'm about to get promoted to Advisor (highest tier for my job title), and I have a nice 401K. Had I grown up having everything provided for me - instead of working for it...I would not appreciate everything I have now.

Personal story aside...

Socialism doesn't work because there will always be people who won't want to work. For example, just like the United States has people on welfare that keep spitting out kids to get more money in benefits.

So basically you unnecessarily had to grind to be where you are today, so everyone else should have to struggle too?

And then a welfare stereotype and the old “socialism doesn’t work”. Let’s evaluate the argument. Socialism doesn’t work because some will always not want to work. Well that is also the case under capitalism, and there’s not much support for these people who choose not to work, you need to submit most of your living activity in order to live at all under capitalism.

Under socialism, work is free and voluntary, but people will still naturally need to perform some work to support themselves. The difference is under socialism, resources aren’t concentrated into the hands of property owners and they are available to all, so everyone is able to help themselves. Also, the point of socialism is to produce according to need and direct consumption to ensure everyone receives. Therefore, nobody will go without. Work does not dominate life under socialism, and it is free and democratic and purposeful, rather than having labor be alienated and uninspiring as a small tool in the larger capitalist system.

Socialism sucked... that's why it never succeeded...

Because it was attacked by capitalist elites and their governments and threatened their wealth. That’s why it “never succeeded”.

So the sanctions, embargoes and coups had nothing to do with the demise of socialist governments and their economies?

You still have not presented evidence of ONE socialist government succeeding... all you got is to blame the other guy... LOL

I do it multiple times, though. Do I have to do it yet again?

So you have real proof THIS TIME of a socialist country that succeeded?

The growth of Vietnam rivals that of China and has been praised even by the World Economic Forum, they have adopted a socialist-oriented market economy planned by the state, China alone is responsible for the greatest reductions in extreme poverty anywhere in the world, Stalin's five year plans, while with many faults, swiftly industrialized Russia and brought the nation into the 20th century, Cuba is the most "sustainably developed country in the world" and has a higher literacy rate, lower child mortality rate and higher life expectancy than the United States because of their generous state programs in education and healthcare.

After the Spanish anarchists collectivized upwards of 70% of towns in the country amid the Spanish Civil War, production increased and they closed factories linked with spreading TB. Some historians say it was an effective example of workers utilizing self-management.
After the Sandinista revolution, the Marxist Sandinista National Liberation Front brought illiteracy to just 12% with their successful campaign. In Burkina Faso, under the leadership of Marxist revolutionary Thomas Sankara, school attendance increased amid a national literacy campaign, land was redistributed under land reform, 10 million trees were planted to combat desertification and 2 million children were vaccinated against measles, yellow fever and meningitis. Today, the libertarian communist Zapatista rebel territories enjoy better services in healthcare, access to water than the pro-government Mexican communities (which they have sustained themselves since 1994).

There are multiple successes from socialist governments and movements. But they have been limited because of western interference and sabotage.
