*holds nose & takes deep breath*
Absolute free speech — Better to have wackos spouting off hate speech than the state sanctioning the only version of reality. American society is closer to absolute free speech, Russian society is closer to 1984 — I think it’s obvious which one’s better.
Illegal to abort — Mandated abortions would actually be an even greater invasion of the Roe v. Wade right-to-privacy.
Technological progress — This one isn’t even radical, lol, so okay.
Nuclear energy — Nuclear power is actually safe if done right. Nuclear weapons though, major mistake to have created them. The fact the whole world has to wonder if it’s going to be fried instantly over Russia & Ukraine’s war is absurd. If I had to choose, I’d say no nuclear tech at all and we get our power needs some other way.
USSR religious rules — No religion would be a free speech nightmare, but it’s still worse to have a theocracy with government controlled by one religion trying to convert or kill everyone else. (Actually, religions were still able to practice under the table in the USSR, as long as they didn’t organize a political opposition)
Central bank — It’s actually not radical, every modern country has one.
All guns banned — If you could actually do it, and take the guns away from criminals too, society would be safer overall.
Police state — Horrible option, but anarchy would be worse.
