Yeah, I was wondering myself exactly how spicy anti-Putin commentary can get here. Prior to the invasion, I would say definitely no. However, Putin’s unilateral decision to invade Ukraine and adopt a deliberate policy of committing war crimes there may have changed things. As an effective dictator, Putin is where the buck stops in Russia — every single drop of blood spilled in Ukraine is on his hands.
Political discussions of war inevitably touch upon killing and death. Do I wanna cheer on the Ukrainians as they are busily doing the one thing that may secure their sovereignty and independence — killing as many Russian soldiers as possible? Yeah, I do.
But *not* to be vindictive against Russia or Russians. Merely to bring this bloody war to an end as swiftly as possible.
Sadly, Putin only recognizes raw power. And because he commands one of the world’s most powerful militaries, he is uniquely capable of warfare — organizing disputes better solved through diplomacy around the principle of violence.
But live by the sword, die by the sword. If the universe is just, it will catch up with him.
