Serious discussion - how does not buying in bulk save you money, especially for ? Everyone one knows that the price per ounce, per serving, however you want to math it out is cheaper in a larger container than a smaller one. If I buy paper towels, TP, beans, etc., I store them until I need them and then use them. Once I've bought them, the price isn't going up on the items that I've already bought.

I think the logic is that the more you buy, the more you tend to consume, both because it's more readily available to you, and also because you identify it with a lower price. So if one person bought a 12-pack of soda for $5 at a local store, and another person bought a 24-pack for $8 at Costco, the second person would go through those cans at a faster rate (maybe 1.5 cans per day) compared to the first person (1 can per day).

With that said, I agree with you that this argument doesn't work for all products. For example, just having more toilet paper on hand doesn't mean you're going to start cruising through more of it at home.
