Some far-Leftists are using Ukrainians’ present misery as an opportunity to grandstand about American military actions dating back 70 years or more.
It’s tone-deaf, irksome, and off-topic, but it doesn’t violate our rules. History-based discussions and criticisms of the U.S. will be permitted here unless provably false, as always. We aren’t blind to U.S. mistakes. Historically, liberals have been the first to acknowledge and take to the streets to march against our military blunders — and we continue to honor that tradition here.
I personally attended this 2007 anti-Iraq War march. It was a formative experience.
That said, “U.S. is the Great Satan” isn’t the dominant narrative today anywhere outside of Putin’s whataboutisms and propaganda-bubble.
Air your anti-American grievances here if you must, but read the room and consider that right now “the floor,” so to speak, belongs to the Ukrainians currently paying for their freedom with their blood.
