Also, the proper charging infrastructure is not in place. Awhile ago i actually considered getting an electric car because there were tons available on Carvana fairly cheap (even cheaper than regular gas cars, which was my first clue that no one wanted them). I live in an apartment, and my parking is not near my unit, so charging at home was not an option. So I researched where charging stations were (in case there were some near where I worked so I could charge them while I worked, nope. To make it work I would have had to take an extra trip at least a few times a week and wait an hour or two while it charged (they weren't near shopping or anything), so I don't have a couple of extra hours. I couldn't have made it work if the car was free. And this is for local daily work commutes and errands. Forget about a road trip.
