It's an extension of a common conservative trait: the only experience is my experience and if I don't find it funny/interesting/good then no one else will find it funny/interesting/good.
I tried explaining it to the Politics stream when PToo started up: you don't find it funny because you don't speak the language.

to them, moderate and left-of-center memes seem based in an alternate reality, which they are (aka, reality).
We don't use supplied talking points from our masters here. It confuses them, all this actual thinking for yourself and providing actual facts to back up our arguments
