Supply and Demand | image tagged in supply and demand | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
U.S. oil production is approaching record highs. Facts don’t care about your feelings.

Domestic oil production will continue to ramp up this year with gas over $4/gallon and predicted to stay there awhile. Supply and demand, basic Econ!

I bet you don’t know anything about how many fracking projects went bust under Trump. Sad!

Ultra-rich lefties supporting higher gas prices... LOL

You don’t have to be ultra-rich to afford paying $5 more at the pump, which I do about once a week.

How cash-strapped are you?

WWII ration points | image tagged in wwii ration points | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
I’m middle-class by every definition. Nobody likes to see higher gas prices, but I’m not going to make a mountain out of a molehill, either. If a $5 or $10/week Putin tax at the pump is what it takes to beat the Russkies, I’m all in.

My grandparents’ generation had to sacrifice way more than that to defeat fascism in Europe. Victory gardens, rationing, price-controls, income taxes on the rich that would make your nose bleed, not to mention millions of American men going to war and American women going into factories.

$4/gallon gas is a ridiculously small price to pay, by comparison, especially with every other economic improvement were seeing. Wages are up — never been a better time to be an American worker.

In the meantime, tell the oil companies sitting on 9,000 approved, unused permits to get back to work and drill more.

I think you’re making a mountain out of a molehill.

The cost of banning Russian oil imports, to the average American driver, is likely much less than $10/week. But let’s just say $10 for simplicity’s sake.

$10 is about the price of one lunch. I think most middle-class American families can sustain that. But, if you really have no room in your budget for slightly higher gas prices, make a PB&J sandwich for yourself one day out of the week to beat Putin.

Don’t wanna do even that? Wanna whine about Biden’s anti-Russian foreign policy instead? Then you probably don’t value democracy and human rights all that much, just sayin’.

I think you are totally ignorant of what hurts the lower-income classes in America.

I think that if you don’t support minimum wage increases, strengthening unions and collective bargaining, implementing universal healthcare, making college more affordable, expanding and extending access to unemployment benefits, subsidizing early-childhood education and long-term care, punishing Big Pharma for its role in fueling the opioid crisis, undoing tort reform and mandatory binding arbitration, ending zoning policies that choke development, making access to housing a human right, bringing back trustbusting, ending the unfair profiteering practices that every un- and under-regulated industry resorts to, and generally expanding the social safety net, then when it comes to helping working-class people in America, you don’t know what you’re talking about.

this is no doubt an elitist liberal who'd be screaming bloody murder about poor people not being about to afford gas and higher food prices had this happened under Donald Trump. Gas could go to ten bucks a gallon and he'd excuse the Democrat regime.

Okay, educate me. What hurts the lower-income classes in America?

Gas prices? Gas prices only?

What if you can’t afford a car? The millions of Americans who rely on public transit?

How about the homeless? I haven’t heard a peep from Republicans about how to make housing more accessible and affordable.

Those with severe illnesses and no health insurance need a hospital bed, not a tank of gas. Republicans don’t think about them at all.

As I said earlier — most Americans can afford a $10/week increase in gas prices, but many are without cars for whatever reason. We have to design an economy that works for everyone, and only the Democrats have a platform broad enough to encompass them.

I can’t figure out what you’re driving at. Are you mad that some liberals exist above subsistence-level?

Our economy has to work for everyone, period. I’m not talking full economic equality. I’m talking about people not dying in the street because they can’t afford a meal or a hospital bed or a roof over their heads.

When the Republican Party gets behind that basic principle, come find me

Thanks for proving me right on that too...

Or, people could transition over time to more fuel-efficient vehicles, as they do EVERY time the price of gas goes up. Or . . . you know . . . walk sometimes.
