You wont pay because that'd mean taking cash out of your own pocket to fulfil your own ideological requirements. Better to have the feds pull money out of the ether to marginally lower the cost of something, claim responsibility and say you're welcome

I did pay! Not yours because you didn't do it but the people who did take the rebates, that was me paying for their electric car. Because they actually wanted to.
