Seriously, you’ve had THIS MANY pride parades (in the hundreds), and you STILL have people unwilling to come out. There are always going to be people in fear.

And bullying and abuse is not a systematic thing. It’s a jerk thing. You’re painting with a broad brush trying to tell me that people undergoing personal abuse is the reason we need worldwide pride parades.

You could be complaining about genuine problems with LGBTQ people (like the countries that actually can punish you with death in the Middle East for being gay), but you’re here instead crying about people being prideful of being straight.

i'm saying straight ppl don't have any problem being straight, anyone who isn't straight are usually seen as not normal when they just want to be equal members of society. that's why there are pride parades.
and that ties in to the whole middle east death punishments too
straight ppl have existed peacefully for a long time. lgbtq ppl haven't been able to live peacefully nearly as long
the lgbtq pride parades also represent ppl who are able to find happiness and express who they are
sadly it's still a struggle trying to let everyone have that freedom

Are you really this opposed to straight pride that you have to use unrelated issues of individual abuse to prove that you’re still being oppressed systematically?

as a whole there are still problems in the system that ppl are still trying to get resolved for the sake of lgbtq ppl

Nowhere did I say that abuse doesn’t matter, in fact I said the opposite. I said all abuse is terrible.

But the fact that some gay people get abused for being gay is not a real standpoint for systematic oppression. And it certainly doesn’t make me homophobic for being proud of the fact that I’m straight.

But the same can be said with all abuse. Nobody should be abused. Abuse is abuse. It’s not magically worse just because the person who is being abused is gay. It’s a horrible thing to do no matter who the victim is. And before you tell me “they were abused because they were gay,” it’s also horrible no matter the reason the abuser is doing it. There’s no good reason to abuse somebody. It’s not made magically worse because the intentions of the abuser were different than usual.

Also, who cares what history was. Just because straight people were the majority back then, and now, doesn’t mean I can’t have a parade about it. You’re not being hunted anymore in the US. Either be happy or go fight the actual countries that punish gay people with death.

And no, it isn’t a struggle. Everyone in the US and other first world countries had the freedom to be gay. Bullying and abuse are not a quintessential representation of systematic oppression.

You can live peacefully now? Cool. Now stop whining about it. And let us be proud of our own sexuality if we want to.
