This is an example of a comment that violates our rules. It already violated our rules against disinformation, because it’s simply false (Ukraine is not “run by Neo-Nazis”). There are indeed — unfortunately, thanks to the worldwide cancers of racism and anti-Semitism, fueled by 21st-century social media and disinformation — Neo-Nazis in Ukraine (just as there are Neo-Nazis in Russia and in Germany, and even in the U.S.), but that doesn’t justify Russia invading any of these countries, or itself, in a bid to “fix the problem.” What matters is whether Neo-Nazis actually run the government.
Do they in Ukraine? Not remotely: President Zelensky is a pro-Western, pro-democratic politician who like many in Ukraine, one day aspires for his country to join NATO, and whose only sin is refusing to bend over for Putin whenever he comes around.
Is the government in Ukraine “corrupt”? To an extent, yes, just like every government on earth is corrupt to an extent — but that doesn’t justify warfare, either.
What *does* justify war? Arguably, nothing, would be the pacifist argument. In theory, self-defense and/or retaliation for previous acts of war are plausible justifications.
It’s possible that Russian security services could very soon stage a “false flag” attack upon pro-Russian separatists/proxies/useful idiots in Ukraine to justify an invasion. That’s if Putin really wants war — which nobody on earth truly knows, other than him.
Anywho, the current situation in Europe that has come about solely as a result of Putin’s warmongering makes it worth making a new rule. Memes and comments justifying or minimizing China’s warmongering against Taiwan, its genocide of the Uighurs within its own borders, etc. will be treated similarly.
FYI, the user who commented above was permabanned today for this and a pattern of other recent violations.
