They don't actually help those kids. Less than 10% of the money raised ever makes it to the country those kids live in (supposedly covering administration costs). From there, the money gradually gets pilfered by extortionist government officials and local police until there is so little left, that the child in question may get a bowl of slurry and another picture taken, showing how happy he is, to be sent back to the donors with a request for more...or he will starve to death. It's all a big scam. I saw this happening when on mission in Nigeria.
