Presidents the Democrats tried and failed to Impeach

Up-voted. Technically they did impeach Trump twice without finding him guilty of ANYTHING even once because they had ZERO meaningful evidence of anything impeachable and absolutely no proof . . . and their 'witnesses' were all garbage. But the others? Yes . . . they most certainly tried . . . and failed. The political Left is excellent at failing . . . just look at the first year of Biden's joke of a presidency.

Consider this. with Nixon, the impeachment process came close to fruition, but didn't get there due to his resignation. So of course, there was no conviction at trial. Imagine if the politicians of that day had gone after him with the same tenacity that our current crop hash gone after Trump? They would have voted to impeach him, and held a trial, all after Nixon resigned and left office. Of course this comparison removes the Ford pardon from the calculus.

Think about that for a minute. We had a president who was caught outright, breaking the law and they let him off the hook, versus a president who did nothing wrong, and they went after him like rabid dogs.

I don't think there could ever be a better example of how TDS has damaged the brains of the modern liberal democrat than a comparison between the two.

Good points. Where Trump was concerned the Left's political leaders -- including their fanatically leftist loyal media outlets -- considered mere accusations to be proof of guilt. They used unnamed sources and pushed outright lies that they KNEW were lies.

Indeed. To the modern liberal / leftist, lying is a means to an end, and as long as that end fits with their prevailing groupthink, they don't care. Also, "according to sources", or "reportedly", etc., is good enough to convict someone they don't like of whatever they feel like charging them with. I guess their belief in freedom and the constitution ends when it no longer involves them personally.

It's worth posting anyway because you never know when a youngster is teetering on an epiphany, and your post might be the one that makes a difference.

I spoze so. Anything is possible, and while I try to believe that it's better to be an optimist, I'm just not usually a 'glass is half full' type of person. I tend more towards skepticism and cynicism.

They did impeach Trump on trumped-up charges (see what I did there?), but FAILED to convict him of anything, since he was innocent.

They're evil, but not as stupid as we might think. By that I mean that they know a trial in the senate does not have to follow the rules that are standard in a regular court of law. I believe at one point they even took a vote to declare what they were doing as constitutional. And me, thinking that was what the SCOUTS was for. It's like I knew what they were doing was rogue, and I hoped it would be declared illegal (as it should have been) but to see them just whip it out and wave it in peoples' faces was pretty disappointing to me. I guess I was more naive than I thought I was.
