People, being people, will mix. It's entirely natural. And just as naturally, many don't. So I don't think anyone should try to prevent this mixing with some kind of ethnic based pressure or influence applied to others in order to love and preserve ethnicity. Many mixed people love and preserve their ethnicities (plural). It's all good.
All of those are nationalities. People who are Americans can also be ethnically Persian, Angolan, Korean, Native American, Belgian, and on and on in any kind of mix you can imagine.
