Because the minimum wage didn't keep pace with the economy like it should have.

It goes back a lot further than that.

It's amazing how the libs can get all these volunteers to die so that their evil plan can be carried out.
Really, it's embarrassing. Stop swallowing all the crap the GQP shoves down your throats.

Amen.
And STOP BUYING FROM AMAZON!
Find private sellers, and ORDER DIRECT!
"But, but, I get free 2-day shipping!"
You mean, the free shipping that you now pay $139 a year for?
And most of the time, Prime orders will get there in 2 days anyway. Unless it's shipping from Amazon itself, in which case THEY WILL HOLD IT BACK INTENTIONALLY.
They are scum.

Amazon employs over 500,000 people...none make minimum wage
Facebook has over 72,000 people...none make minimum wage
Only 2% or less of Americans actually make Minimum wage.

None make minimum wage because THEY WERE SHAMED INTO RAISING SALARIES when the information went public. Plus, robots.
And minimum wage isn't anything close to a living wage.

They never did make minimum wage at these companies. It had nothing to do with shaming and everything to do with the market. And minimum wage was never supposed to be a "living wage", just an arbitrary number set to keep employers from paying workers any less. The fact that 2% or less actually work for minimum wage, and most of them are high-school and college kids---not trying to make a living, and are dependents on someone else, means the whole minimum wage/livable wage is just a constructed fallacy that doesn't even exist.

It was low enough that 1 in 3 Amazon workers in Arizona was receiving welfare.
And high school & college kids should get paid less?

They're dependents, like most libs, still living in the parents' house. And I don't think you know how welfare works. They may have qualified for assistance in some form, but welfare is a large umbrella that covers a lot of government programs including "free school lunch". There's no singular "welfare" system in the U.S. The term is a catchall for various state and federal benefits intended to help those without sufficient means to provide for themselves.

Hell, I make 6 figures and qualify for benefits considered "welfare", so that argument is pretty lame and misleading, not unexpected on this page.

And Amazon gets corporate welfare.

I'm sure they do. I don't see any rush by either party to end that practice, since, that's what they use to lure large companies to their states and communities. The payoff for the community exceeds the amount of money sacrificed to bring jobs and commerce to the state.

Let's examine this part of your statement: "... in my state, federal minimum wage..."

If, in your state, the minimum wage is different than in a neighboring state, it's not the federal minimum wage.

It's your state's minimum wage.

Not the federal one.

Plus, that still isn't even keeping pace with inflation, and not even before the covid inflation.
