Here's the THING, I don't know if you've ever tried, but it's damn near impossible to flush paper. Unless you got a power flush commode. Go ahead and give it a shot... Also, the rate at which paper breaks down in water would not cause back-ups, and if they did it would be temporary. The most likely thing those staffers saw was "flushable" wipes, which are one of the top three things to back up a sewer line.

Nah, having ran a PLUMBING BUSINESS WAREHOUSE, there werent too many modern toilets that could not tolerate a LOAD such as wadded paper.

So, you go from you camt flush paper, it wont break down; to paper breaks down so fast it wont clog. I have a test for you. Do you knkw where the cleanout to your house is? Open that up, and stuff it full of nespaper. Close the cleanout. Now, go and flush the toilet furthest from your cleanout. Go and do a sink or dishwasher full of dishes. Just forget about the paper.

We would have to pull wads of paper towels out of main lines after houses were FINAL CLEANED during the construction process. So, try it.

As a plumbing contractor, I disagree. Newspaper and paper towels are different than regular paper stock (different fibers). The reason it wouldn't go down in the first place, is because waded paper wouldn't get past the inverted ptrap, or even the outlet of the toilet. Non waded paper would just sit there. Even if you COULD get it past the toilet flange, it would break down.
Also I never said it would break down in order to flush. Regular tp doesn't break down in the bowl either, unless it sits long enough.

That is why i said to go cleanout for the test.

You are also assuming the paper was WADED. It is shreded first.

Regardless, it is a sad satememt to think one has to DEFEND a statement of a president DID NOT FLUSH DOCUMENTS DOWN A TOILET. NOTHING SURPRISES ME when it comes to cheetohjeses.
