I'm not sure why Eileen Gu is purposely being allusive about competing for China. In the last Olympics 2020/2021 Olympics, there was a significant amount of naturalized U.S. citizens, who competed for their birth country's Olympic team. This kinda seems like cheating, but I understand it, because it's a way for other countries to get a world-class level athlete and gives the athlete an opportunity to compete in the Olympics when they couldn't make the U.S. team. The fact that Eileen Gu is purposely being deceptive about her competing seems more suspicious than similar situations before.
