A bunch of old farts are leaving Spotify because of the most listened to podcast in history?? What were they thinking

I am a boomer and I am also a software developer. While I don't know anything about Spotify I could probably, with enough time and money, could build my own version of Spotify. :)

Why remake the wheel, i have a media player and a whole library of BMG and COLUMBIA HOUSE cds that I have converted. I too am in the IT game.

Back in the 80's I used to join them, fulfill the agreement, cancel and then start over a few months later with another 9 cd's. I did that about 4 or 5 times.

Oh yea, that was the method!!!! I built my library in Tech school. Dorm life, chow hall meals, lotsa cash i couldnt spend because werent allowed off base!!

So are you saying there are enough old farts who actually care about those ancient musicians to cause Spotfiy's stock to fall??? That is a shock.

So here's the problem with that. These guys are old, older than me and I'm older than dirt. A huge majority of us old farts are technologically impaired. I guess I don't fit that category because I am a software developer. Plus many of us have just gotten sick and tired of listening to that "dinosaur rock" over and over and over.

If you put all of that together you get a huge group of people who, even if they have heard of Spotify, they don't use it. I'm guessing that 6% fall in the stock market was just coincidental.

It's saying Spotify shares went down 6% while other tred markers went up.

But hey, you can still listen to that Lady Gaga and Bieber.

As a son of a detective, there are no coincidences.
