I watched the 1984 film.

I haven’t. Only seen the new one.

It's the whole story, and the new one's recreated whole scenes and dialogue from it which looked pretty cool.

I heard the 1984 one was pretty rushed since it had the whole story in 2 hours.

We didn't get a n y depth in the plot, unlike the new one. The whole story of the new one was all done in about an hour.
I think it would've been a confusing watch if I hadn't already known the plot.
