I've soapboxed a little on this topic before. Don't wanna be a pest about it... but...
Cypherpunks have sought change through democratizing cryptography to change the system. The anonymous inventor of Bitcoin was allegedly a cypherpunk with this aim. Uncorrupt money by making it incorruptible.
At the end of the day Bitcoin is a tool and it alone won't bring about social justice. Looks like a step toward that end to me though.
