If Epps was an FBI asset and has been compromised, they would not let him walk around on his own. He would "know too much," for his own safety. He would be living in a safe house in an undisclosed location, instead of working on his ranch in Arizona.

Trump was a fed though, the president of America is always a fed. He won't ever be charged because there was no insurrection.

A case is being built. But, as always, it must be a strong enough case that it looks like it would lead to a conviction. And "insurrection," will not be the charge. The DOJ has avoided bringing that charge. It will be something like "Conspiring and committing felony obstruction of justice for interfering with Congress’s certification of the presidential election results."
