Dylan Wenzlau (The Founder of Imgflip) created his account by going anonymous and posted lots of images and gifs since September 2011 after the beta version since 2008. He earned lots of points while submitting them to fun stream.

Well geez how many freaking upvotes did he get? Must be funny as shit back then.

Old users in 2011-2013 or something upvoted those when they find it funny.

ponyration is right, but I think yet another explanation is that imgflip rarely posts his own memes, but on his profile, you can see old memes from places like maybe deleted users and such. the imgflip account is quite mysterious
