I had to do some research on the origins of the 'holiday' about twenty years ago and I found official sources stating that the founder was a rapist and a con artists and that he admitted to just making up most of the 'rituals' off the top of his head while swiping a few real ones from library sources.

The other day a congresswoman or senator SAID THIS as established fact and she was attacked by the brainwashed and chronically ignorant press as a racist and bigot and know-nothing. Now since I did MY research decades ago leftists MIGHT very well have whitewashed the true history of this holiday and the background of its founder. But the above is what I found way back then.

I actually saw some background on Kwanza this morning in a non-related issue. So I did a bit more quick digging on the interwebs, and according to the ever-reliable wiki, the Kwanzaa founder's name is "...Maulana Ndabezitha Karenga (born Ronald McKinley Everett, July 14, 1941), previously known as Ron Karenga..."

In 1971, he was convicted of felony assault, torture, and false imprisonment. He denied involvement and claimed the prosecution was political in nature."

I'm always a bit suspicious of people who change their name a couple of times. It proves nothing that he did, but still.

And yes, he's done time.
