Everyone interjects themselves into what they think to be injustices and wrongdoings. That's why there was an outcry against Chauvin and such support for Byrd. Logically, since Chauvin killed a black man and Byrd was one, it wasn't wrong that black individuals got behind them (only a little predictable, though). Homosexuals in our community, consenting to the rules of our priests and our God, are told not to partake in intercourse. It is in our scripture that active homosexuals will not see the kingdom of God (The verse in question, quite hilariously being 1 Corinthians 6:9), and so it is what we believe.
If there is a creator, is it not his business to interject himself into the lives of his creations, as it is the business of a mother to interject herself into the lives of her children as to keep them from, say, drugs and alcohol?
Churches are evangelical by nature. We don't force it upon people that "every single homosexual needs to stop being gay so they can see God" (at least, not anymore) because we know not everyone believes. Rather, we advise that to see Salvation, homosexuals cannot lie with others of their kind. These rules apply to members of our community, and in an effort to draw people in and do what we consider to be saving them, we attempt to make it clear that one day, these rules would be applicable to them. The goal is to propel not ourselves, but also others, to what we see as salvation.
That is why we interject ourselves into the sex lives of consenting adults.
