Kids have to be taught to be that vindictive. Like any clubs for programming, garbage in, garbage out.

There is hope though. My grandfather was a vicious alcoholic, my mother never wanted to be like him and strove not to be

No, I think there can be evil in the center, too.

He didn't deserve to be bashed like he was, and it's a tragedy what happened to him. But to adapt it into a political message, to wield his death like a weapon... it means that you consider this sad message to be a marriage of convenience. You aren't mourning his death, only bashing your opposition... it's beyond wrong. I'd say shame on you, but I doubt you exactly have the capacity to feel shame.

It shouldn't be a political matter. A kid killed himself, and anyone using it for leverage is in the wrong and loses my respect. That goes for anyone sharing my views, as well as for you and any other.

Politics aside, we can agree that telling gay kids they deserve everlasting torture is at least as wrong as using their suicides politically.

It is. I prefer to refer to actual Christian beliefs, in that the homosexually active do not see heaven. Understand, of course, that doesn't mean they go to hell. There's purgatory for the refining of those who never truly committed an evil. Homosexuals in our community are not shunned, but told to live celibate lives. The kid should not have been told he would go to hell. These kids did not understand the psychological harm it could cause (let alone the inaccuracy).

Well, I'm an ex-Christian, so I wouldn't agree to the existence of any such well defined afterlife locations.

I don't want to start a theological argument since, well, it's impossible to disprove either side. It can be agreed that this was a nightmarish injustice and should not have occurred.

since it's impossible to disprove either side, conservatives and religious people should keep their rules to themselves and not force others to comply with them.

this includes abortion.

if your religion prohibits abortion, don't have one.

abortion isn't murder. a fetus isn't a baby.
2 ups, 3y
Since the 1970s, anyways... when the term became part of a politically repurposed lexicon.

"I can feel my fetus kicking" said no one ever,
Ditto for, "So do you know if your fetus is a girl or a boy yet?"

Your reasoning is always "it's a clump of cells".
Why haven't I heard anything else?
It meets every requirement necessary to be classified as alive

democrats don't mandate sexual rules.

nor take the rights of women away from them.
[deleted]

If i have no right to murder a man, then a woman has no right to abort her fetus.
Rape laws are sexual rules. Do you want to ignore those?

Judge not lest ye...

Only 144,000 Sainted Chosen (Jews) + a few Gentiles judged on their works shall enter the Gates...

There is no such thing as Purgatory, not even in the Bible.

ALL who aren't married are supposed to be celibate according to the Book, and that includes hot studly studs doing it with what they reduce to the word "s**t"

I know all non-married individuals are told to be celibate. Homosexual marriages aren't recognized by us.
The Bible is not our only source for belief. Beyond the literal interpretations of the Bible there are the figurative, pus the Deuterocannon removed by Luther.

Who is "us"?

Paganizations past the Roman Paganism that is corruption that is the New Testament don't mean squat. The only so-called literal - and only passages nearly all Christians refer to is John 3:16 and a smidgen of Genesis.

The Catholic Church. Roman Catholic in particular, and further than that 2nd Vatican Council.

Because the Roman Catholic Church only merely just CREATED the religion and wrote the NT?

Protestantism is simply an adaptation tailored to a northwest culture, one of a sparsely settled landscape whose tiny emerging 'cities'/villages were started by Rome, otherwise they'd still be living in thatched huts eating cabbage and beets for dinner to this day. Unaccustomed to the centralization and tiered society that was the civilization Europa had taken part in for millenia, the Church's hierarchy was still pretty alien to them, hence their need for the mutation.

According to Catholic doctrine, the poor and frugal are in a minor purgatory of their own and will see heaven without need for purification as far as others would go. The rich will see heaven without purgatory so long as they are faithful, holy and upstanding. The truly evil see hell, and those who are in need of refinement go to purgatory to be purged of their venial sins.
1 up, 3y
I misunderstood what you said about being Catholic before.

Protestants follow the Bible word-for-word? John 3:16 and a smidgen of Genesis are not the entire Bible. Claiming and doing are two different things. Christians don't follow the Word. This place would be pretty quiet at the moment if they did.

Again, and try to pay attention here: There is NO Purgatory in the Bible anywhere. It was a money making scheme created by THE Church looooooooong before there was this Luther guy who, um, what did he do again?

blah blah blah
"...camel through the eye of a needle" anyone?
[deleted]
0 ups, 3y
Once more. We don't follow the Bible word-for-word like Protestants.
Oh, and 2 Maccabees 12:46. Old Testament, too. Maccabees is not present in Protestant copies of the bible, since Luther was so fond of deletion. The New Testament carries Matthew 5:26, Matthew 12:32, Luke 12:59, and Revelation 21:27.

Everyone interjects themselves into what they think to be injustices and wrongdoings. That's why there was an outcry against Chauvin and such support for Byrd. Logically, since Chauvin killed a black man and Byrd was one, it wasn't wrong that black individuals got behind them (only a little predictable, though). Homosexuals in our community, consenting to the rules of our priests and our God, are told not to partake in intercourse. It is in our scripture that active homosexuals will not see the kingdom of God (The verse in question, quite hilariously being 1 Corinthians 6:9), and so it is what we believe.
If there is a creator, is it not his business to interject himself into the lives of his creations, as it is the business of a mother to interject herself into the lives of her children as to keep them from, say, drugs and alcohol?
Churches are evangelical by nature. We don't force it upon people that "every single homosexual needs to stop being gay so they can see God" (at least, not anymore) because we know not everyone believes. Rather, we advise that to see Salvation, homosexuals cannot lie with others of their kind. These rules apply to members of our community, and in an effort to draw people in and do what we consider to be saving them, we attempt to make it clear that one day, these rules would be applicable to them. The goal is to propel not ourselves, but also others, to what we see as salvation.
That is why we interject ourselves into the sex lives of consenting adults.

First of all, yes. In particular, the Catholic church. I cannot speak for Protestants, who set in place the laws you speak of. Protestants have actively attempted to maintain control socially, passing laws and making moves that consolidate their own status (for example, they are extremely strong supporters of Leif Erikkson's finding the Americas, but rather than because it is correct, they support it because Columbus was a Catholic).

Yes, I know it's funny. Feel free to fall on the floor laughing, I've achieved my position as a professional comedian

If there is a God, there's no use in pretending adults aren't children to him.
And how are AIDS, HIV and other STDs not harmful?

Them.
