The World Health Organization said that covid won't be eradicated but it won't be as much of a threat as it first was, it will be more like the flu: https://thehill.com/changing-america/well-being/longevity/571155-covid-19-wont-be-eradicated-who
The Spanish Flu virus/H1N1 didn't go away, it still exists but after 1920, it became a lot less of a deadly threat than it was from 1918 to 1920 simply because we recovered from it and vaccines for it didn't even exist and we got back to normal life. The Spanish Flu infected over 500 million and killed about 50 million, covid has currently infected over 260 million and killed about 5 million so the notion it's the "deadliest virus in history" is bullshit. Also the Omicron covid variant currently only has mild cases despite the media and government saying it's supposedly the "deadliest variant yet": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ku5qT_TrHDU
