We use approximately 5800 KWs a year and they promise they can generate more than that after the site survey. We also can buy them out at any point and my wife wants to do that after the first year, but I prefer to wait as we will need to replace the roof before I retire in 8 years. If they still own it then, they will remove the panels so the roof can be done and replace them again at their cost. After that we’ll buy it out and should get a year rebate from our power company instead of a monthly bill. Until then we will pay them 11 cents per kilowatt verses the 26 cents we pay now with any additional watts produced beyond the 5800 being ours.

Millions of roofs vs nuclear and fossil footprints. Awesome.

I'm at the tail end of a 6.5kW install. Just need permission to operate final inspection and we're a go. Should be real soon.

LOL
I bemoan the delay but it makes sense that the local utility needs to understand that your power lines will be hot even if there's a blackout or a planned shut off in your area.

They have to install an auto shutoff breaker because of that. Nothing like a lineman trying to work on a live line when the powers out.

There is one. I also have a battery backup so I'm unsure how that affects it.

We down here in Australia still need fossil fuels for our economy and jobs

Not really. You have some of the highest solar irradiance in the world. Musk's battery in Adelaide proved you can rely on renewables for less than coal.

Too bad all the Thatcher inspired privatization happened.

But 90% of electricity comes from coal and at least 2 out of 5 of our jobs rely on coal, and most farmers use fuel and other recources that come from fossil fuels.
So it may be good for 1 or two cities but not our entire country

Musk's battery in SA and solar should replace coal since its cheaper. But politicians don't like change.
