Why do some people only trust people who can't proof they can be trusted?

Shazbat! English is not my native tongue and that prove/proof thing is one of those things I often get wrong. Confusing because they're pronounced the same. Is there a trick to tell them apart easily?

No worries. They're actually pronounced differently. Proof has an abrupt F sound at the end. Prove sounds a lot like saying move.
As far as telling them apart proof is a noun. It's a thing that exists.
Prove is an adjective. It's an action somebody or something does.
