Never heard of sweet potatoes in casserole. Marshmallows and sweet potatoes usually work best for pie than an actual side dish.

Here in the south (or at least around where I live) it's a popular side dish around the holidays. I consider it more of a dessert than a side dish, but us southerners use any excuse we can to put something sweet on the table, lol.

The two schools of thought are putting marshmallows on top and toasting them, which is more something that came from the older generations I think, and then the candied pecan topping which is the streusel topping I mentioned. That one is much better in my opinion.

Punkin pie for sure because I have never tasted sweet potato pie, though I do quite enjoy sweet potato pancakes (especially with pecan nuts and maple syrup).

Now I gotta try that.

I don't like either, but if I HAD to choose it'd be the pumpkin pie.
