It does seem true that usually high profile cases with political lines go quite badly for 'righties'.

Because all they really do all day, every day, all year long is charge everyone with every crime they can. Most people just plead guilty because they were charged. Not because they are guilty. They are in the business of convicting and incarcerating people. Not in sending criminals to jail.
