Have you read the book? I took an undergrad Modern American Lit course from the author, David Morrel. He had a lot to say about the book vs. the movie, about vets, etc. Of course, I forgot most of it! That was some time ago, and the dain bramage has been severe... I ought to dig up my notes sometime, just for grins. But only notes. He could sniff out a tape recorder (yes, this was before cell phones) and he'd confiscate it. I think he was a fairly paranoid individual.
