in most places that is an occasion that the sunny days compensate for. only minor issue is the usage of lithium ion battery

where solar doesn't work, geothermal/wind works. geothermal is a bit exclusive, so wind is more likely. most places without sun at all during the winter have sparse populations, so the power generation isn't the biggest concern.
