Yep, they have their royals too. And the backlash against Mako has been similar to the flak Harry got. There's this thing about marrying commoners.

But in Japan, it's okay for a male royal to marry a commoner. Naruhito's wife Masako is a commoner. But a female royal who marries a commoner has to give up her title.
