A lot of people, unfortunately. The aesthetic of depression can get people attention and likes. People genuinely think that making dark posts and whatnot gives them a mental illness
SO, A KID AT MY SCHOOL PUT UP HER HOOD AND SAID: “LOOK! I’M DEPRESSED.” SHE FAKED A FROWN. I WAS MAD, SHE HAD NO IDEA WHAT SHE WAS MAKING FUN OF AND HOW BAD I FELT EVERY DAY. THEN THE INNOCENT KID WHO SHE’S FRIENDS WITH SPOKE UP. SHE SAID: “THAT’S NOT WHAT DEPRESSION LOOKS LIKE. THAT’S A STEREOTYPE.” THE KID WHO WAS MAKING FUN OF MENTAL ILLNESS HAD AN ACTUAL FROWN AND SAID SHE WAS MAKING A JOKE. THE INNOCENT KID SAID THAT WASN’T AN OKAY JOKE TO MAKE. I’M PROUD OF HER FOR SPEAKING UP FOR US.
