It wouldn't be everyone, some people's crimes were too grave

Yeah. I was thinking we oughta take a look at our permaban roster every so often, offer get-out-of-jail free cards in some cases.

People change. Some might be more willing than they were before to engage in reasonable discussion and listen to some of the viewpoints on offer here.

Or not. And if not, they get banned again. Pretty simple.

Reasoning:

—Things have been a bit slow around here lately, this could shake & spice things up. Who doesn’t like sharp debate? And why not here than on the main politics stream with all its problems?

—Covid has sort of transitioned at this point from a crisis to a boring fact of modern life. Covid won’t be “beaten,” but will be with us to stay, so it seems. Antivaxxing commentary is still deadly and not something we’ll tolerate here, but the politicization of the Covid pandemic is a bit less than it used to be. Hopefully, once the right-wing disinformation campaign around Covid ebbs for good, those who were once deadly opposed to Covid vaccines will start taking them up the way most people get their flu shots every year.

—We can always re-permaban folks if they act up again.
