PaulsoaresJr, PopularMMOS, GamingwithJen, DanTDM, Stampy, all of these were my Minecraft childhood. They’re all very different now.
Paul still plays Minecraft, but focuses more on survival games, trying out new things, and still as fun as always.
Pat has unfortunately lost the battle of life. He’s been reduced to making apology videos every few months, and was the first of these I unsubscribed to.
Jen, I haven’t seen anything about since the duo broke up. I had never subscribed to her.
DanTDM is still fun, and plays Minecraft, but not as much anymore. I’m still subscribed to him.
Stampy, I know restarted his let’s play series in Minecraft, but I had never subscribed to him, and have therefore not seen any of the videos.
It’s crazy to see how far we’ve come since then. Minecraft is really the childhood game of the past decade. It’s medium allowed for people to express themselves and have fun, while being able to rope viewers in for the ride.
While the MC Youtubers nowadays are different from the ones of the past, they are still interesting and fun to watch. The DSMP allows people to use Minecraft as a storytelling medium, and that is the magic of the game. Dream is hyper and energetic in his videos, but that’s why people watch him. It’s exciting. The Hermits on Hermitcraft keep the classic feel of 2010’s Minecraft YouTube, in a wholesome and chaotic way. Grain, Mumbo, Scar, all of them, build, laugh, and cause chaos because it’s fun!
While people can get worked up about stuff like this, many of the youtubers involved will ask their viewers to not tell other youtubers secrets or lore. They want the experience to be fun, not anxiety inducing, they want it to be special and genuine, not forced, they want it to be including, but not so much that they spoil things for the others.
People will get ticked off about anything. There are fans of the classic MC youtubers who get worked up over stuff like that, and there are DSMP fans who will be very calm, yet excited about it.
Minecraft is the perfect game, and YouTube and the world itself reflects this. People love Minecraft, and there’s a good reason for that. It’s so open, anyone could do anything with it. Mod it, change the way it looks, gather friends, make a story, and share their creations with the world.
I can’t wait to see how Minecraft changes our world as it grows and changes.
