It was featured, but then removed as it was found to contain inaccuracies.

How so?
Free college and free healthcare are flagship liberal policies.
$450,000 for immigrants has been news headline of the day.

Considering what was done to those immigrant children, $450,000 isn't enough.

It's a good setup, and I liked it. I approved it, actually. But after some discussion, I came to agree that it was too broad. it needs to be more targeted at what's happening.

Immigrant is a broad word. You can say "well, what if you're an immigrant from Ireland? They're not offering the money to those other groups." And you'd be right, they're not. The proposal is for those families broken by the Trump administration.

If you did the same thing but "best I can do is $450,000 for each kid in a cage" that would be accurate and have some real bite to it.

My recommendation is that you make a new one, but targeted to the group and why that group is being selected, and you should get some solid upvotes for it.

Hi whistlelock! Thanks for the clarification.

I won't submit a new one with an altered/inflated caption though.
Considering my own quality standards captions of quality memes are meant to be short, sweet and bold or ironic. Everything else (specification, clarification, sources, discussion, debate or criticism) belongs in the comment section.

"$450,000 for illegal immigrants" is the very narrative that will be pushed by the right so it's only fair that it be addressed in politicsTOO too. So it's kinda sad that it was disaproved.

Hence my counter proposal: you feature it as is and use it's comment section as a platform to engage in the topic. This should also gain some traction.

The comment thread (link below) started by Sleeping_dragon may provide some talking points.

Or else feel free to steal it and do it your way; then I won't engage further.

Anyway thanks buddy.

also:
"$450,000 for illegal immigrants" is the exact wording of the news headlines; couldn't be more accurate.

Hi whistlelock

Just leaving this here since I've recently been temporarily banned from politicsTOO; supposedly by a stream moderator for commenting on their meme.

To be clear:
I respect the stream rules. I have no intent to try the ruling. Also the ban should be done with by now anyways.
In general I'm focussed on the fun aspect; also my comment was an humorous and unpolitical meme comment.

Now here's the thing:
Stream moderators absolutely SHOULD RECUSE THEMSELVES from moderating their own memes; instead just flag and have a dispassionate moderator colleague make the call. Which is COMMON SENSE for EVERY DUE JUDICIAL PROCESS.

I really ask politicsTOO stream owners to look into this and to make sure that moderation work recuses arbitrary self-moderation.

thank you
&
a belated Happy New Year

Thank you for reaching out, Gylbert. I am aware of the comment and why it was deleted. We have a policy of taking a screenshot of the deletion and the reason for it being deleted.

I appreciate your concern and willingness to contact me.

Thank you- so no need to provide you links or further details.
Also I apologize should I have made false claims of self-moderation.
But a very short respond time (notification received within a few minutes after commenting) plus lengthy, somewhat far-fetched additional notes combined with a ban, strongly gave that impression.

I was also of the mindset of recusal. For a long time, I followed this practice. But then kids got tired of me asking them to do my job for me. So screen shots are used of what is in question, and screen shot the reason given.

Users can ask for the deletion to be reviewed by other mods. They will then review and if the mod is in error, they will be coached in their error, privately.

My formula had changed since the new year,

Screenshot
Delete, cute rule broken and how it was broken, screenshot that training. Implement it 24hr Ben as first warning.
If they're is already documentation of a prior incident, 48 hour ban. If there are multiple altercations, permaban.

There is also Ron for one on one discussion to recant with the mod. It won't remove the record, but it would be a good step to avoid accidentally getting permaban Ed. Again, this is done with monitoring and moderation to check for the individual being genuine in their recantation.

Your see, we have a lot of would be trolls who come to the stream. We have this as a blanket approach, nothing personal.

no offense taken.

As I already stated before I've no intent of having a review.
I was rather pointing out that mods should recuse themselves from self-moderation.
This should be common sense- if not a hard rule.
If you see this different just own it instead of putting the blame on other(?) on kids (??)
(I don't get it even, who are you even talking about?! And who is Ron?)

The message was typed with a phone so there were a couple errors. When I said there is Ron. What I meant was there is room and I didn't mean to write kids. Kids, I meant to write mods so there are no kids per se. I hope that helps alleviate any confusion that you might have been dealing with. If you have any more questions by all means feel free to ask. But as I said, we don't do recusal simply because there are some things that are just blatant you know. Yeah of course this should be flagged and and deleted. You know you don't have someone else do the work that is is obvious. I would flag a lot of the people that I spoke with because I felt that they were being trolls in the stream or being bad actors and they didn't need to be in the stream and the flags that I made were very clear, cut and dry cases. So the mods trust me enough as well as other mods to moderate themselves because we are adults. This isn't a place for a court hearing. This is a social website so there's a little bit more liberty given in in that way for for moderation
