Agree on everything except (well applied) modern medicine. I look at health 200 years ago with medical practice then along with life expectancy vs. today's life expectancy with modern medicine. It's way more years than it used to be. However, there are many immoral applications of modern medicine that I heavily disagree with. I think a lot of health problems could be avoided with just a clean eating lifestyle. Me and my wife have adopted a more clean eating diet and we've both lost weight and feel better in general. And that's just the most obvious improvement, there are other benefits too.

True, like a third of the US is obese, which is sad. Climate control in houses is actually interesting too. There's a good chance it's contributing to obesity, because your body isn't losing as much like it would in heat or burning as much to stay warm in cold.
Yeah I think medicine's become pretty problematic. Whenever something's slightly wrong we just throw drugs at it, which may or may not have adverse side effects.
People don't wanna put in the effort to stay healthy. I have a goal, and that goal is to NEVER get a pot-belly to ANY extent EVER. I'm gonna get a six-pack and keep it till I'm over 80 XD

six pack | SCAR TESTING OUT HIS NEW SIX PACK | image tagged in six pack | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
What got me thinking on this subject is an ad I saw for yet another anti migrane pill. Like why aren't we getting to the root of the problem that's causing the migraine and deal with that, maybe the person is dehydrated, or lacking sleep or stressed. Then they're gonna be on a host of other pills to counteract the side effects just to get rid of a headache. It's crazy. That's interesting about climate control. I never had it growing up, you sweated in the summer and huddled by the woodstove in the winter. Lol. Good luck with the six pack.

Don't even get me started on diagnosing kids with AD(H)D and then selling them drugs
Thanks XD

Don't get me started, we're injecting drugs in kids literally just out of the womb.

lifestyle and food are killing us, but modern medicine is saving us, although I imagine that may come to a close when we get more superbugs

Is it really saving us though? Despite having some of the most advanced medicine in the world we're one of the most unhealthy countries. Why is that?

Because you decided you needed a ludicrous amount of money for being born with type 1 diabetes

This would seem to disprove that. These graphs show average life expectancy after reaching multiple different ages, so something like infant mortality going down isn't skewing the averages. We do have problems in developed countries, but they aren't nearly as mortal as drinking water having cholera or people starving after a bad winter or disease killed a farm.

Life expectancy might be higher but is overall health, daily life, even morale better now? With the plethera of pills people have to take to survive up to 80 is it better than when they died of natural causes?

America spends more per person on medicine but has the lowest life expectancy in the world. My husband's grandfather lived to 132, I kid you not. All he had was palm tree oil and palm wine in his native African village for medicine.

Actually, medicine is keeping us alive longer. some modern food is shortening our lifespan, yet some of it is actually beneficial to us. Depends on the habits that your talking about, like sitting at home with electronics and eating a bag of chips, yea that’s crappy. But other modern hobbies like sculpture/art, new technology, is helping us become better humans. Though some people can’t seem to adapt to new technology, and they are the people holding back mankind from evolving.
