OK, let's try this example with a different geographic scenario.
I'm going to take my wife and two kids, let's say 7 & 10 years old on a trip north. We're going to walk because we're so desperate. We want to go to Canada. We start out from Denver in late October. We cross the border from Montana to Saskatchewan in late January. We've had little food, water, medicine, or decent clothing. The Canadian officials take us into custody. They cannot, however, house adults with children because too many children got molested when housed with adults because actual parental bona fides cannot be established.
So, a little intellectual honesty, are the actions by the parents wrong here or are the actions of the Canadian Government wrong?
What kind of "parent" takes their young children on such a trek through shitty conditions? Then, they knew that if they were apprehended they'd be separated, as they should have been. "Parents" that put their families through this deserve the grief that they feel, not $450,000 of our money.
