Quite the opposite, in fact.
Instead of relying on the spectre of invisible bogeymen in the sky (which nobody really believes in, btw) promising an eternity in a really hot suana (which nobody really believes in, btw) to scare you for, like, totally forever (which nobody really believes in, btw), it relies on people growing up and trying to use their brains to act like responsible adults as opposed to children scheming to steal cookies out of the jar without catching a spanking from mommy.
