Why don't people trust mainstream media and why don't they think Fox is MSM?

I remember when Fox News claimed to be "fair and balanced". That was a joke in itself.

If I remember correctly the same judge that ordered Fox to call themselves an entertainment channel as opposed to a news channel, also ordered them to stop using that deceiving slogan.

I'm conservative and I've always tried to figure this out. I guess it's because most networks lean left/center-left, thereby all coalescing into the main 'stream' of views that FOX then counterbalances.

That could well be it. Besides that: people working at networks are people and thus by definition biased. Just like we all are. But Fox Entertainment Channel (they are not allowed to call themselves a news organisation anymore) also brings mainstream news and therefore just like all the other major stations part of 'MSM'. I usually recommend people never to trust just one source to bring them the news. Just like my grandmother told me: there's always more than one side to a story. I loved my grandma.

Eh, nobody in that main stream who calls themselves news are really news. They're journalists and pundits; of course they spin it.

But I agree, just listening to one side is not good. I have about ten different sites bookmarked in a News folder on my laptop that I'll consult if I need to read about something. It's got a good balance, and then the official state outlets for Russia and China thrown in as a bit of a joke, lolol.
