The “billions of dollars worth of military equipment” we left behind in Afghanistan will be mostly useless to the Taliban for the same reason it was mostly useless to the Afghan army: Afghanistan simply doesn’t have the technical expertise in its armed forces needed to maintain and operate such equipment.
