It's bogus, man. I want to shoot my current inventory of TULA 7.62 at the range, but now I'll have to hoard it. I doubt the remaining orders coming into the country will last long. Ugh.

In all seriousness, you should get a better hobby. Have you considered woodworking?

I have a cousin who sold all his guns (well, not ALL it is hard to go cold turkey) and bought a bunch of power tools to work with wood. It's dangerous (lost limbs & eyes) BUT you get to make stuff for people to use. He loves it.

My brother has a lathe in his shop and makes all kinds of cool things with wood and resin. Believe me though, I've got already plenty of other hobbies! I fish, mountain bike, ski, snowboard, and that's just outside. Indoors I read books constantly, play games of all sorts, etc. So the time and money really isn't going away, it'll just go elsewhere haha.

Shooting is a fun thing to do. Not sure you can really say it's better or worse than anything else, since everyone's opinion of fun is subjective. I derive a lot of enjoyment out practicing marksmanship with a rifle cartridge that is (usually) derided as being inaccurate (usually by AR guys).

But now I've gotta shelve that for a while because we're finally getting around to "punishing" Russia for something they did more than a year ago. C'est la vie...

Well that's a different psychological argument, methinks, because it's an extension of man vs. nature...though really, if you want to drive through mud then a jeep or something'd be better.

There are lots of great reasons to own firearms, and if you own them then you have an obligation to practice your marksmanship so you can use them in a safe, ethical fashion. Plinking cans, hunting, anything really; if you're not confident in your shot, you shouldn't take it.

Is it something I necessarily need to spend money on? No...

Is it something that would be incredibly cool if you could do it? Heck yes.

As a fellow gun lover I’ve been hoarding my buck rounds.

On the plus side I’ve been trying my hand at archery with my daughter. Not quite as fun as shooting but still enjoyable.

Archery is tons of fun in its own right! I'm decent with a compound bow, never put in the time to master a recurve, and straight up don't have the muscle to pull a proper longbow haha! That's a great way to spend time with your daughter. :)
