As a Catholic I can confirm; we wish they'd just quit pretending to be Catholic.

The sad thing is so many Catholics have always voted Democrat, and the Church in the U.S has done a relatively poor job of educating its flock, that almost half of us claim to be Catholic without actually espousing Catholic beliefs or voting accordingly. :(

The only choice the supreme court made was to not intervene, that it is a state issue.
I think the Texas law goes too far but still think the Supreme court made the right decision.

Personally, if I'm strapped to a stretcher on the way to the Emergency room, I want my doctor to presume I'm alive, not presume I'm dead.

In that case, you need to know that the supreme court is not the doctor. They are, at best, the mal-practice lawyers, after you are dead.
The supreme court does not write laws. All it can do is declare laws unconstitutional, and to do that, the powers the law addresses have to be specifically granted to the federal government. All else is left to the states.
If you can tenuously tie this to interstate commerce or something...

Metaphor, yes, strained, no. Personally when it comes to life or death I'd rather err on the side of life if there is any question. As for the Supreme Court not writing laws- where have you been? They send a decision down so tightly written that there is no wiggle room when re-writing a law to please them.
